rupert-gaster

Rupert, Founder & MD Procurement Heads

In a desire to do things differently and be more customer focussed I set up Procurement Heads in October 2012. I’ve been recruiting since 1998; I’m not saying I’ve been there and done that, but I suppose I’ve seen enough to know the best approach more often than not. Following my degree in History from Bristol University, I spent two years in Market Research – a firm grounding that helped me develop my analytical skills. I then joined a FTSE 250 global recruitment group and spent the best part of 14 years there, progressing to Director. Since 2005 I’ve focussed purely on Procurement recruitment, building detailed knowledge of the industry and some strong, hopefully life-long relationships. For me, recruitment has always been about enabling businesses to work more effectively and challenging accepted norms.

Outside work I’m often found supporting my son’s sporting and creative endeavours and assisting in my wife’s growing business (where I’m allowed). Myself, I’m passionate about sport, both watching and playing, particularly cycling, rugby, cricket and golf, and try to compete as much as my body will allow. I’m also a great fan of mid-century furniture and travel.

Martin, Senior Manager

After graduating from Loughborough University in 2009 with a degree in Sports Science and English I fell into the recruitment industry. It’s fair to say I have never looked back. During the first four years of my career I successfully developed the procurement market for a niche, London based recruitment business. I then joined Coca Cola Enterprises as Recruitment Manager with responsibility for Procurement and Supply Chain across Great Britain, honing my experience in the market and working closely with stakeholder groups to really understand the challenges and support required to find genuine talent in the external market.

My move to Procurement Heads has been inspired by a desire to source talent for local businesses in an honest and consultative way and to help further build this unique brand through the development of an existing network, focusing on London and the Home Counties.

Outside of work I am a sports enthusiast and play and watch as much football as my wife will let me! I am a big Newcastle United fan for my sins which proves that I am addicted to the highs and lows that recruitment can throw at you.

Simon Burr, Manager

Returning from a gap year in Australia in 2006, I joined a specialist consultancy recruiting senior legal professionals into private practice. Promoted to manage the team, I have since worked for a further three privately owned recruitment businesses in professional services and for the past couple of years my focus has been solely within the Procurement sector.  I now feel I’ve found my true recruitment home.

What really appeals to me about Procurement Heads is their truly innovative approach to recruitment and relationship management.  I am a very hands-on operator with experience managing multi-vacancy campaigns for businesses throughout the UK. I am passionate about continuing to operate as a specialist at the forefront of this industry, keeping in touch with current trends and working with the utmost of integrity at every turn.  I am leading our expansion into Berkshire and the M4 corridor region and am very excited about the prospect of extending our network into this major high-technology hub.

On a more personal note, there’s nothing I enjoy more than getting out into the countryside on my trusty mountain bike and careering down hills at breakneck speed!  I also have a lifelong passion for music and volunteer as a DJ on a community radio station in my free time.

Paul Booth, Manager

I have 10 years’ recruitment experience across the UK and Australia and for the past 3 years have specialised in the recruitment of procurement talent.  As a still relatively emerging field, the influence that procurement has upon the Board and commercial decisions is only growing in importance and securing the leading talent in this function is both exciting and challenging.
Within Procurement Heads, I am leading the expansion of our business across London and have successfully partnered a multitude of businesses to find their procurement talent from Buyer to Head of Procurement level.
I enjoy the ethos that Procurement Heads works towards; rewarding relationships and proactively meeting exceptional procurement talent to fully understand their experience and aspirations.
My two young daughters keep me busy outside of work and when I get a spare moment I like to keep active in sports. A major passion for me is music of which I am a self-confessed geek!

Joshua Edwards

Joshua, Consultant

After graduating from university in 2015 with a first class degree in Business Management, I took a year out and travelled Australia and New Zealand and then South-East Asia, where I fell in love with the culture and of course the climate.

My move into recruitment was fuelled by a desire to build meaningful relationships with procurement professionals and ultimately assist them into the next stage of their careers. I have a particular interest in sustainability and ethics and am proud of the way we operate here with our values at the forefront of everything we do.

Much like everyone else in the office, outside of work, sport is my main interest. I am an avid Crystal Palace fan (someone has to be) and I also play Tennis and Golf when the Great British weather permits.

Tom Dubber, Consultant

Following a spell in the Leisure industry fuelled by my enthusiasm for Sport and Personal Training, I decided to put my degree in English from Queen Mary, University of London to good use.  My first foray into recruitment took me into the corporate world, refining my skills and understanding of niche talent sourcing.
To facilitate my desire to offer a more boutique, value-add service, I joined Procurement Heads in April 2017, specialising in Permanent placements across Hampshire and Dorset.  My passion for building and investing in long term, consultative relationships, building on the established reputation of Procurement Heads, enables me to make effective and valuable contributions to FTSE 250, Blue Chip & SME Businesses in new and exciting ways.
Away from the roller-coaster of recruitment, the majority of time is spent at the gym or keeping active in some way – it’s an essential requirement to join the Heads Team! I’m a former National Swimmer and have been known to dabble in Basketball & Football.  Away from the gym or the office, you’ll find me at the Cinema taking in the latest releases, or blindly following Portsmouth FC all over the country.

Jen

Jen, Founder & MD HR Heads

Starting in the industry in 1997 as a graduate (read tea girl) from Cambridge (M.Phil Criminology), I launched HR Heads in 2009 and haven’t looked back. I love the fact we do recruitment differently, with a human touch rather than by numbers, and we make a difference. I have seen all the ups and downs of the local HR market, but according to the team still make an excellent cup of tea! Working as an industry specialist across Hampshire & Dorset, I have broad reaching exposure of contingency, advertised search and executive selection methodologies.

To escape the buzz of leading HR Heads, I run to let off steam, participating in events including the Great South Run and the Claredon ½ marathon.
