Procurement Heads take on intense challenge for immense cause.

It’s not unusual for Procurement Heads Director Rupert Gaster to come into the office looking slightly wobbly after completing an endurance ride, but this weekend is set to top any previous efforts when he leads a team of 10 other intrepid cyclists in The Rotary Dorset Sportive Bike Event this Sunday to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

1 in 3 of us will battle cancer at some stage in our lives but Macmillan go above and beyond in their care for sufferers and their families, providing medical, practical, emotional and financial help.

Support from you is integral to Macmillan’s success and Rupert and the team will be completing the 108 mile Dorset Etape route incorporating 7000 feet of climbs with the aim of raising £1000. Working at such a high intensity for a long period of time will cause maximum burn to their legs and lungs as lactic acid builds up, muscles fatigue and the body uses everything it has to match the physical demands being sent to it by the brain.

Research has shown that to succeed in such an extreme challenge they will need more than a cyclists usual dose of grit and determination, but knowing they are pushing themselves to the limits to raise money for such a worthwhile cause will be the final driver to get them through the finish line.

To help them reach their £1000 target you can donate through our Just Giving page.

Thank you so much for your support
