This organisation is transforming it’s Procurement function with the creation of multiple roles spanning a number of Categories. With an ongoing change programme currently on target to save in excess of £100m across the business, you will join the organisation at a critical moment as they set targets to increase this to £130m by 2018. You will need the gravitas and aptitude to learn and grow into the role and you will be given the option to line manage a Senior Buyer.

As Category Manager you will plan, drive and deliver category initiatives for a complex and high-value category and will collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to apply best practice and drive value for money. There are various change programmes running business wide that you will have the opportunity to lead on, meaning you will be agile, dynamic and determined to succeed.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Strong influence across one or more spend categories of approximately £20 – £50m+, through the development of Category Commercial Plans
• Indirect management of flexible resources on a project by project basis with a responsibility to lead and mentor staff to develop a highly skilled and effective Procurement and Commercial function
• Drive category management activity for a clearly defined category or group of sub-categories of medium to high complexity
• Develop and implement Commercial Category Plans for each market facing category or sub-category of spend under the direction of the Category Lead

Skills and Achievements:

• Degree level educated and / or relevant professional qualification and / or experience in a similar role
• In depth strategic and operational procurement experience with a solid working knowledge of category management
• Strong knowledge and understanding of EU Procurement Regulations and the Public Sector procurement landscape
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity
• Strategic thinker with solid facilitation ability supported by excellent interpersonal competencies (communication, leadership, influencing)
