This unique organisation is looking to expand their team and need an experienced IT buyer to work within their global procurement function, initially on a 6-month basis with the view to making this permanent over time. The team has recently undergone a period of change, with a new Procurement Director recently brought in to drive a change function wide. This role will play an important part in ensuring this world leading brand maintain their competitive advantage in the market. There is also an opportunity to become involved in other indirect categories as the team continues their transformation journey.

The ideal candidate will have an IT background with a proven track record of delivering results and not only practicing, but initiating best practice across the wider business. You will need to be able to thrive in a dynamic fast moving business environment and have the interpersonal skills to succeed. You will be providing active support and working alongside the Category Manager as well as executing self-led sourcing programmes and strategies.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• To identify commercial opportunities and sourcing strategies within the Information Technology category
• To support the Category Manager – IT, in delivery of agreed objectives in line with the procurement strategy
• Ensuring consistent procurement processes (RFI & RFP’s) are undertaken to select third parties that provide optimum value and quality for the business. This will include as appropriate, supplier segmentation, assessment of supplier risk, management of objective evaluation, financial analysis, commercial negotiation and contract generation
• To provide an area of expertise in the relevant categories the Category Specialist is responsible for, including the provision of clear guidance to internal stakeholders on developments in the supply chain and industry analysis
• To support the Category Manager in development of the respective IT Category Plan and identify appropriate category strategies, which deliver commercial benefits whilst mitigating risk

Skills and Achievements:

• Degree/CIPS qualified
• Capable of understanding, evaluating and communicating to both IT and Non-IT literate stakeholders commercial propositions from third parties
• Capable of managing and developing supplier relationships at all level
• Capable of undertaking bench-marking of the relevant supply base, score-card creation and supplier improvement tasks
• Proven influencer with demonstrable relationship management skills
• Holds a good understanding of IT contracts and key contract terms
• Demonstrable significant experience of in-direct procurement, preferably within the IT category arena
