This award-winning organisation is looking for an accomplished Procurement Manager to provide maternity cover for a 12 month period to support a close-knit team during a period of exciting transformation.

Reporting directly to the Head of Procurement, you will be leading on various operational and strategic Procurement projects. The opportunities for quick wins are endless and you will need to have demonstrable cost savings achievements to show you can identify such areas. Ideally, you will have a Public-Sector background and well versed in dealing with Public Contracts Regulations 2015, OJEU and other relevant bodies.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver procurement projects working with colleagues and stakeholders from all departments and disciplines. Develop innovative solutions to address the business needs, with a focus on both the present and the future.
  • Maintain a professional level of understanding, application and expertise with regard to the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. Be able to translate and implement the European procurement regulations, in particular having regard to commercial risk.
  • Lead on specific operational and strategic procurement projects as directed by the Head of Strategic Sourcing, to include producing reports for a variety of audiences including the Executive.
  • Promote the use of a structured approach to strategic procurement with colleagues. Advise on the most appropriate strategy for each procurement project, with particular awareness of risk to the business including regulatory, commercial and financial.
  • Proactively engage with all parts of the business to gather intelligence about their activity and how this may interact with the Strategic Sourcing Team. Use spend analysis data to identify relevant areas of the business.
  • Manage the contract following award either directly or via end users in accordance with the project strategy.

Skills and Achievements:

  • Membership of a recognised procurement professional body (Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply)
  • Educated to HNC level minimum
  • Good end to end category management experience within Public or Private Sector
  • Extensive experience of working at a procurement middle management/specialist role in a medium to large organisation
  • Knowledge of statutory regulation and good practice in relation to public sector procurement
  • Proven skill at negotiating with stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Proven skill at project / contract management
